Job summary

Greenwood Community School Corporation seeks a dedicated Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students to and from school and events. You will operate a school bus on assigned routes, conduct safety inspections, and maintain a positive, disciplined environment in accordance with transportation policies.

This role requires a valid Indiana CDL with S and P endorsements, a School Bus Driver Certification, and a DOT Medical Certificate, plus insurability and background checks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school bus safety procedures and defensive driving.
• Ability to operate a bus and follow routes with discipline.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and district information.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus on routes and trips, following laws and regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
• Transport students to/from school, field trips, and events.
• Enforce bus rules to keep a safe, orderly environment.
• Follow routes, schedules, and transportation procedures; adapt as needed.
• Assist students with boarding/exiting, including those with disabilities.
• Operate wheelchair lifts and safety restraints when applicable.
• Maintain route logs, inspection reports, and mileage records.
• Report accidents, discipline concerns, and maintenance issues promptly.
• Attend safety meetings and required trainings.
