Job summary

Liberty Public Schools Transportation is hiring a School Bus Monitor for a 10‑month position with summers off in Liberty, Missouri. The role involves assisting students, loading/unloading from buses, and maintaining safety and order on routes.

Hours are Monday–Friday with split shifts and potential mid-shift options. The position offers benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, generous time off, and retirement plans (PEERS, 403(b), 457(b)).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR/First Aid Certificate/AED preferred, or willingness to obtain.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check; DOT physical exam, drug test, and criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assists special education students and other passengers by providing safe loading and unloading from buses during normal transport and emergency situations.
• Secures students and/or their equipment (e.g. restraints, wheel chair tie downs, seat belts, etc.)
• Assists bus driver to ensure a clean, safe environment for student passengers (e.g. sweeping, mopping, washing windows, disposing of trash, etc.)
• Enforces rules/regulations and maintains student safety and well-being.
• Interacts with teachers and parents by effectively communicating with students and dealing with behavioral issues that impact safe transportation.
• Monitors students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc.
• Documents student activities, conveys information, and/or complies with established guidelines. (e.g. incident reports, passenger misconduct, etc.)

Transportation Monitor (School Bus Monitor)

Hours

• Monday through Friday
• Split Shift, 5:30 am - 8:30/9:30 am and 1:45 pm to 5:30 pm(Potentialavailabilty for mid shift: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm)
• Hours may vary depending on route and inclement weather

Pay

$15.83- $19.87 per hour (based on relevant work experience)

Requirements

• Related job experiences desired (paraprofessional, CNA, Direct Support Professional, etc)
• CPR/First Aid Certificate/AED preferred, or willingness to obtain
• Must pass a pre-employment background check; DOT physical exam, drug test, and criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.
