Job summary

Liberty 53 School District Transportation in Liberty, Missouri is hiring a School Bus Driver. This 10-month role begins immediately with a split shift schedule (5:30 am – 8:30/9:30 am and 1:45 pm – 4:30/5:30 pm), plus potential mid-shift work. No experience needed; paid training and CDL testing are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a current Missouri Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Commercial Driver’s License - Class B (CDL-B) with passenger & air brake endorsements, and Missouri School Bus Permit, or willingness to obtain (training provided).
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check (DOT physical, drug test, and criminal background clearance).

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe and appropriate behavior of all riders according to guidelines.
• Assess incidents, complaints, accidents and potential emergencies.
• Assist students with safe loading and unloading from buses.
• Perform routine vehicle cleaning for safety and sanitation.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to meet safety standards.
• Prepare written and verbal reports within requested deadlines.

Job Description

School Bus Driver

School Bus Drivers safeguard students during transport to and from school and/or special events, and while loading and unloading from buses.

School Bus Drivers regularly check the vehicle to ensure safe operating condition, and that students are greeted with a friendly and welcoming smile.

No experience needed. Paid Training and CDL testing.

This is a 10-month position.

Optional availability for summer school work.

Hours

• Monday through Friday
• Split Shift, 5:30 am - 8:30/9:30 am and 1:45 pm to 4:30/5:30 pm. Potential availabilty for mid shift, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
• Hours may vary depending on route and inclement weather

Pay

$20.49 - $25.72 per hour (based on relevant work experience)

Job Duties

• Maintain safe and appropriate behavior of all riders in accordance with established guidelines.
• Assess incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations (e.g. road hazards, medical emergencies, accidents, etc.)
• Assists students and other passengers with safe loading and unloading from buses during transport and emergency situations.
• Perform routine cleaning on both interior and exterior to ensure safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. gauge levels, exterior condition, etc.) to meet safety operation standards.
• Prepare written and verbal reports within requested deadlines. (e.g. field trips reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, etc.)

Requirements

• Must have a current Missouri Driver’s License, with a clean driving record.
• Commercial Driver’s License - Class B (CDL-B) required, with passenger & air brake endorsements, and Missouri School Bus Permit, or willingness to obtain. (TRAINING PROVIDED)
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check. (DOT physical exam, drug test, and criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance)
