Job summary

Hill 35 is seeking a full-time bus maintenance technician to perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on district vehicles. You will use diagnostic tools, conduct major and minor repairs, weld and perform light bodywork, and drive as a substitute bus driver when needed.

Applicants must have Class B CDL or Class A CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, Texas Bus Driver Certification, and at least two years of mechanic experience.

Qualifications

• Two years experience as a mechanic.
• CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements and Texas Bus Driver Certification.
• Must provide own hand tools for vehicle repairs.
• Ability to pass alcohol and drug testing.
• Willingness to drive a school bus as needed.

Responsibilities

• Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles.
• Perform mechanical repairs as needed.
• Ability to complete major repairs.
• Do welding and minor bodywork.
• Diagnose A/C systems.
• Assist the mechanics helper with minor repairs and training.
• Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment as scheduled.
• Operate buses and other vehicles as needed.
• Work irregular hours as needed.
