Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a skilled bus maintenance professional to oversee safe operation of the school bus fleet and lead fleet repair requirements. You will ensure inspections, maintenance, and safety standards are met across all district buses.

The role requires a CDL Class B with air brakes and passenger endorsement, DOT medical clearance, and strong English communication. This position is full-time and on-site at the district's transportation facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas CDL Class B with air brakes and passenger endorsement.
• Texas Education Agency School Bus Driver Certificate required.
• Must pass DOT Medical Examination and alcohol/drug tests.
• Must read/write/communicate in English clearly.

Responsibilities

• Ensure school bus fleet is safe to operate.
• Develop and maintain safe shop practices.
• Ensure buses meet DOT/state inspections and maintenance requirements.
• Provide required training to maintain fleet safety.
• Manage parts inventory and keep vehicle records up to date.
• Assist with information on purchasing new fleet vehicles.
• Establish a system for routine maintenance and preventive care.
• Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems.
• Rebuild/repair vehicle parts as needed.
• Maintain high safety and housekeeping standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
