Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Fleet Specialist III (260 Days) to maintain district vehicles according to a preventive maintenance schedule. The role requires diagnosing and repairing a range of mechanical issues, maintaining precise maintenance records, and ensuring safety standards across the shop.

The candidate should hold a High School Diploma or equivalent, 3+ years of auto/truck maintenance, and a Texas CDL with P/S endorsements or obtain within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) required.
• Minimum three (3) years auto/truck maintenance and repair experience.
• Meet TEA qualifications for school bus drivers or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Possess a current Texas Class “A” or “B” Commercial Driver’s License, with “P” and “S” endorsements or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Must be able to drive a vehicle with airbrakes.
• Minimum of four (4) ASE Automotive Certifications (Automotive A1-A-8 or Medium/Heavy Duty Truck T1-T6, or School Bus S1-S7) or TASBT equivalence.

Responsibilities

• Service vehicles according to preventive maintenance schedule.
• Rotate and balance tires, change oil and filters, lubricate and inspect hoses, belts, lamps and fluid levels.
• Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Operate tools, equipment and machinery safely and according to procedures.
• Diagnose mechanical problems of vehicles and perform repairs when needed.
