Zum Services, Inc. in Alameda, CA is seeking a School Bus Driver Trainer (CDL) to join our team. The role trains new and existing drivers, ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintains a safe student transport environment.

The successful candidate will deliver classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, recruit and evaluate drivers, and coordinate drug/alcohol testing and safety meetings in collaboration with the corporate office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years driving experience in a passenger vehicle.
• Possess all valid applicable state licenses and trainer certifications (vary by state).
• State and federal regulations knowledge related to student transportation.

Responsibilities

• Proactively recruit individuals to apply and train them to become School Bus Drivers.
• Provide classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training to ensure successful completion of training and testing; recommend upgrades as necessary.
• Provide ongoing training and performance evaluations for all driver employees.
• Administer and maintain the company random drug/alcohol testing and pre-employment testing program with the corporate office.
• Develop and conduct regularly scheduled driver safety meetings.
• Respond to personal injury and vehicle accidents by on-scene investigation and reporting to the corporate office.
• Investigate customer service safety complaints and take corrective action as needed.
• Drive a school bus on designated routes.

Zum is seeking a skilled and experienced Driver Trainer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for training new and existing bus drivers, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintaining a safe transportation environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively recruit individuals to apply and train them to become School Bus Drivers
• Provide classroom instruction and behind the wheel training of applicants and bus drivers to ensure successful completion of training and testing; recommend upgrades as necessary
• Provide ongoing training and performance evaluations for all driver employees
• Administer and maintain Company random drug/alcohol testing and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing program in conjunction with the corporate office
• Develop and conduct regularly scheduled driver safety meetings
• Assume primary responsibility in responding to personal injury and vehicle accidents by on-scene investigation and preparing and submitting reports to the corporate office in accordance with Company policy.
• Investigate customer service complaints relative to safety issues and take appropriate corrective action.
• Drive a school bus on designated routes

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years driving experience in a passenger vehicle (WAC 392-144-101)
• Possessall valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to operate company vehicles (requirements vary by state)
• Possessall valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to train and evaluate school bus driver (requirements vary by state)
• Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations related to student transportation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities

Required Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S)endorsement
• State based trainer certification (requirements based on state)
• First Aid/CPRCertification (preferred)
