Job summary

Roosevelt School District 66 is seeking a Bus Driver Trainee to join our transportation team. The role offers a structured training program to develop the skills needed to safely transport students in district routes.

The trainee will complete classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction and must obtain licenses, endorsements, and credentials before operating a school bus independently. A three-month term and hourly classified employment are specified.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21 years.
• Willingness to complete Bus Driver training and obtain required licenses.
• Ability to maintain driving record meeting requirements.
• Ability to learn safety procedures, traffic laws, and district policies.
• Ability to communicate with students and staff in English.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to attend training consistently.
• Able to work under supervision during training.

Responsibilities

• Learn and comply with traffic laws and ADOT requirements.
• Complete classroom and behind-the-wheel training.
• Obtain licenses, endorsements, and certifications.
• Perform supervised driving and route training.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain district vehicle cleanliness.
• Develop student management and supervision techniques.
• Report safety concerns and incidents.
• Attend all required trainings and meetings.
• Maintain training records and licensing documents.
• Assist with transportation operations as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
