Job summary

Roosevelt School District 66 seeks a Bus Driver Trainee to join a structured training program designed to develop skills for safely transporting students. Trainees work under Transportation Department supervision, completing classroom and behind-the-wheel training to meet licensing and certification requirements.

The program emphasizes adherence to ADOT and district policies, with the goal of independently operating a school bus after completion.

Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrates reliability, professionalism, punctuality, and regular attendance.
Ability to learn and follow school bus safety procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

Learn and comply with traffic laws, ADOT requirements, and district procedures while supervised.
Complete classroom and behind-the-wheel training to obtain required licenses and endorsements.
Assist with supervision and safety of students during boarding, transit, and zone stops.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any safety concerns.
Maintain district vehicle cleanliness and proper documentation of inspections.
Follow district procedures for reporting accidents or incidents within required timeframes.
Participate in transportation operations including routes, field trips, and after-school programs as needed.
Attend all required training and ensure timely completion of certifications.
