Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school. The role requires a valid CDL-B with P and S endorsements and MPCS bus driver training, with an early start around 6:00 a.m.

You will operate a school bus, adhere to safety procedures, and complete required clearances. The position offers hourly pay of $23.81 and opportunities to contribute to student safety and dependable transportation in our school community.

Qualifications

• Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English; Spanish language proficiency a plus
• Must be eligible for CDL-B with P and S endorsements and completion of MPCS school bus driver training.
• Able to meet all driving record, physical, CPR certification requirements, drug/alcohol testing and background investigations that are required by the Manassas Park City Schools and the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Willing and able to work 6:00 a.m. until assignment is completed
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
• Tuberculosis Screening

Job Summary

The Substitute Bus Driver will operate a school bus for the purpose of safely transporting students to and from school.

POSITION: SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER

Salary/Hours

• Pay scale: $23.81 / hour

Requisite Education And Skills

• Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English; Spanish language proficiency a plus
• Must be eligible for CDL-B with P and S endorsements and completion of MPCS school bus driver training.

Physical Requirements

• The employee must be able to effectively communicate and interact with staff, students, families, and the public through verbal, written, and electronic means.
• Duties require the ability to see, read, hear, speak, handle, and feel objects and controls.
• Physical requirements include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and performing repetitive motions. The employee must possess sufficient strength and agility to safely move, lift, and secure students in child safety restraint systems and to assist students with entering and exiting the bus during both routine operations and emergency situations. The driver must be able to perform required emergency evacuation procedures, including entering and exiting the school bus as necessary. The position also requires the ability to perform moderate lifting, operate a wheelchair lift, and assist students on and off the bus as needed.
• Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including wet, humid, hot, and cold environments. The employee may also be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, minor vibration, and noise levels that are typically moderate to loud.
