Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 44 is seeking a Classified Hourly Bus Driver to operate Type A or B buses carrying up to 15 passengers for student transportation and activities.

The role requires a valid AZ IVP Clearance Card, DOT health card, a clean driving record, and First Aid/ CPR certifications. Expect regular pre/post-trip inspections, safety drills, and adherence to district conduct on routes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess and Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate by meeting state requirements and standards.
• Must understand and comply with all traffic laws.
• Must have exemplary driving record and proof from MVR annually.
• Must pass a physical examination annually and possess a DOT health card.
• Must pass a drug screen urinalysis annually or as requested.
• Must possess First Aid certification and CPR training.

Responsibilities

• Drives school bus or district vehicle designed to carry no more than 15 passengers on scheduled routes.
• Transports students on field trips and sporting events, local and out of town.
• Maintains order and enforces conduct on buses.
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills twice yearly.
• Administers first aid when necessary.
• Keeps interior and exterior of bus clean and neat.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections as per DOT regulations.
• Reports defects or needed repairs on daily inspection report.
• Keeps gas and oil usage, mileage, and passengers transported records.
• Attends safety meetings.
• Operates two-way radio.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
