Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 44 is seeking a full-time Bus Driver to operate Type A/B buses carrying up to 15 passengers, primarily students.

You will transport students to and from school and on educational activities, supervise behavior, and ensure safety per district standards. The role requires a valid Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate, fingerprint clearance, and annual DOT health card, with a strong driving record and ability to pass drug screens.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
• Must pass a physical annually and have DOT health card.
• Must pass drug screening annually.
• Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate required per state rules.
• Clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• D rives school bus or district vehicle on scheduled routes carrying up to 15 passengers.
• Transports students to and from school and on field trips or events.
• Maintains order and enforces conduct on buses.
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills twice yearly.
• Administers first aid when necessary.
• Maintains interior and exterior of bus clean and neat.
• Makes minor seat repairs and removes graffiti.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections per DOT rules.
• Records fuel, mileage and student numbers as required.
• Attends safety meetings and responds to emergencies professionally.
