Job summary

The driver ensures student safety, communicates with the Supervisor of Transportation, and participates in scheduled trainings while upholding school policies and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Alabama bus license (ABL) and CDL with P/S endorsement.
• Maintain a current Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card.
• Possess and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record for insurability.
• Meet background clearance as specified by Alabama statutes and SBE regulations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system, its vision, goals and priorities.
• Adheres to all traffic laws and driving safety rules.
• Prepares and submits monthly school bus reports as required.
• Prepares and submits an accident report when involved in an accident.
• Performs daily pre-trip inspection of the bus and post-trip inspection.
• Maintains discipline while students are on the bus.
• Picks up and discharges students at authorized stops on route.
• Transports students on field trips and events as assigned.
