Job summary

Chehalis School District is seeking a Route 8 Bus Driver for the 2026-27 school year. Anticipated hours are 5.5 hours per day, with pay based on experience per the PSE Salary Schedule.

The driver transports students on scheduled routes and special trips, enforcing safety rules and ensuring vehicle readiness for daily operations. Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of twenty-one years of age.
• Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements void of any air brake restriction.
• Possess a valid Washington State Commercial School Bus Drivers Certificate.
• Must maintain a valid CPR/First Aid card.
• Ability to pass a physical examination as required by the State of Washington.
• Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance and drug testing clearance.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Good driving records and good moral character.
• Reliability, dependability, initiative and honesty.
• Evidence of previous successful job performance.

Responsibilities

• Drive bus on scheduled routes and for extra school activities; maintain control of passengers en-route.
• Inspect, service and clean bus; report mechanical problems.
• Complete required records and reports.
• Attend required training courses; administer first aid if necessary.
• Observe safety laws; enforce bus operation regulations.
• Discharge students only at authorized stops; ensure safe loading/unloading.
• Maintain bus cleanliness and schedule adherence.
• Report any undisciplined students to proper authority.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
