Job summary

Satsuma City Schools is seeking a Bus Driver for a nine-month term to provide safe transportation for students and staff. You will drive routes on a defined schedule, perform daily pre-trip checks, maintain student rosters, and ensure passenger safety while adhering to district rules and state laws.

Qualified candidates must hold an Alabama CDL with P/S endorsement and an Alabama bus license, plus current ALDOT Health Card.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a valid Alabama bus driver's license (ABL) and commercial driver’s license (CDL) with P/S endorsement.
• Maintain a current Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card as required by state law.
• Meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act and related acts.
• Maintain acceptable driving record and insurability under school system requirements.
• Pass drug tests per applicable law.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Operate a bus on scheduled routes with appropriate discipline and safety.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to traffic laws and driving safety rules.
• Prepare and submit monthly bus reports; file accident reports when needed.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintain bus cleanliness.
• Manage student rosters and communicate roster changes to Transportation.
• Maintain discipline on bus and report incidents to proper authorities.
• Assist with evacuations and field trips; ensure passenger safety.
• Notifies supervisor of mechanical issues and delays; operate equipment per regulations.
