You will inspect the bus, follow assigned routes and schedules, maintain discipline on board, and report issues to the district authorities. The role requires meeting licensing, testing, and physical requirements and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Submit to and pass the pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.
• Fingerprints must clear Public Safety and FBI checks.
• Graduated from high school or general education degree.
• Two years of related experience and/or training.
• Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement.
• Must submit to and successfully pass State Drug and Alcohol testing.
• Certified in First Aid.
• Lift 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Obey all traffic laws and observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintain discipline when students are on the bus and report problems to the proper authority.
• Keep the assigned bus clean.
• Follow assigned route and schedule.
• Check the bus before each operation for mechanical defects and notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Transport and discharge students only at authorized stops.
• Complete and attend all training sessions as required.
• Adhere to all District rules and regulations.
