ServingSchools in Maine is seeking a part-time bus driver to transport MeANS students using a 14-passenger white bus or a yellow school bus. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday, typically 6:00am–8:00am and 2:00pm–4:00pm plus Friday 12:15pm–2:15pm, totaling about 20 hours a week with occasional Monday runs if willing.

The driver will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensure student safety, maintain orderly conduct, and report incidents promptly.

Qualifications

  • Clean driving record and valid Maine driver's license.
  • Cooperative, reliable, honest and thorough.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; satisfactory references and health checks.

Responsibilities

  • Drive MeANS students to and from school.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report defects.
  • Check for damage and belongings left behind after each run.
  • Fill out daily pre-trip sheets and time sheets.
  • Abide by all State of Maine and Federal motor vehicle laws and school board policies.
  • Maintain control of passengers and ensure their safety.
  • Attend scheduled workshops (safety, discipline, etc.).
  • Report all student disciplinary matters to supervisor.
  • Report all incidents within 24 hours; maintain a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrates awareness of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

This may include daily transportation to and from school for our day students and/or transportation of the on-campus students to and from drop-off points where their parents will pick them up. Job Summary

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Driving MeANS students to and from school.
  • To make daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, to insure its safe operation. Report any defects immediately to supervisor.
  • The driver will check for any damage and for belongings that may have been left behind after every run.
  • Fill out daily pre-trip sheets and time sheets.
  • Abide by all State of Maine and Federal motor vehicle laws and school board policies.
  • Maintain control of passengers and ensure their safety.
  • Drivers will attend scheduled workshops (safety, discipline, etc.).
  • Drivers will report all student disciplinary matters to supervisor.
  • Reports all incidents of work-related accident/illness within 24 hours; maintain a safe work environment; ensure that a safe environment is maintained in the workplace by adhering to all safety rules and requirements (Safety Policies) and report any safety hazards to immediate supervisor.
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population.
  • All other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications

If driving 14 passenger white bus: Clean driving record and valid Maine driver's license. Cooperative attitude, reliable, honest, thorough. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Satisfactory reference, background, driving, and health checks.

If driving yellow school bus: The qualifications above in addition to a CDL License with S and P endorsements.

Salary/Benefits
