Job summary

Durham School Services in Grass Valley, CA is seeking motivated individuals for the Driver in Training program to eventually operate non-CDL routes for safe student transportation.

Starting at $18.00 per hour, this position offers a flexible schedule, no nights or weekends, and opportunities for training and advancement. Applicants must meet age and licensing requirements and pass the necessary physical and training requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age (25 for Tennessee per state law) and able to obtain/maintain all required licenses and certifications to operate company vehicles.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening.
• Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training.
• Must practice defensive driving at all times and avoid accidents by safe driving and work habits.
• Compliance with all applicable Driver requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operates a school bus or other vehicle with fixed or changing routes to provide safe transportation.
• Maintains on-time performance and adheres to safety policies.
• Reports incidents per company policy and communicates concerns to supervisor.
• Assists passengers during evacuation in emergencies and ensures neat personal appearance.
• Completes route change sheets, time cards, and vehicle repair requests promptly.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with coworkers, customers, and passengers.
• Utilizes vehicle equipment safely and follows all duties as assigned.
