Durham School Services is hiring for a Driver in Training role in Missouri. This entry-level position trains staff to obtain required endorsements and prepares you for a full Non-CDL Driver role while ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age (25 for Tennessee).
• Must possess or obtain and maintain all valid state licenses and certifications to operate company vehicles.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening.
• Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training.
• Must practice defensive driving at all times and avoid accidents by safe driving and work habits.
• Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract driver requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operates a school bus or other vehicle with a fixed or changing route to provide safe transportation.
• Exhibits ethical conduct and reports concerns about suspicious behavior to supervisor.
• Reports to duty on time and maintains route on time safely.
• Assists passengers in evacuation during emergencies.
• Immediately reports accidents or incidents per policy.
• Follows policies on student and passenger management.
• Presents neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Completes route sheets, time cards, and vehicle repair requests promptly.
• Maintains cooperative attitude with coworkers, customers, and passengers.
• Utilizes vehicle equipment safely including wheelchair lifts and radios.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Paratransit drivers may have additional responsibilities per location.
