Job summary

Dean Transportation in Manistee, MI, seeks a School Bus Driver to transport students and other passengers safely to and from school, events, and activities.

You will undergo training toward Michigan CDL certification, with paid instruction and flexible scheduling. No prior CDL experience is required, and benefits are available to eligible employees. Earn up to $24.50 per hour, with the potential for a 401(k) retirement plan after one year.

Qualifications

• Meet all general qualifications for employment.
• Meet company and state standards for driving record checks.
• Meet company, state, and school district standards for criminal history checks.
• Meet Federal DOT guidelines and physical examination requirements.
• Pass drug and alcohol screening as established by company.
• Complete Dean Transportation School Bus Driver Training Program (classroom, behind the wheel, tests).
• Meet Michigan School Bus Driver Certification requirements (instruction hours, knowledge exam).
• Pass local, county, and state driving skills tests.
• Meet licensing requirements for commercial vehicles in the state.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Use established routes and designated bus stops.
• Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required.
• Instruct passenger riders regarding safety.
• Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and weather.
• Drive with passenger safety as the top priority.
• Establish positive working relationships with drivers, staff, and students.
• Attend safety training and in-service sessions.
