Job summary

South Kitsap School District is seeking Substitute Bus Drivers to safely transport students on district routes. Trainees will complete an in-house 4–6 week training to obtain a CDL Class B with passenger endorsement, airbrakes and school bus endorsements, with a potential to move into permanent positions.

Most shifts run mornings and afternoons (approximately 5:45am–9:30am and 1:30pm–5:00pm). Training, route discipline, and safety expectations are outlined in the district program for substitutes.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and two years of driving experience.
• Must have a valid WA CDL with passenger endorsement.
• Excellent driving record.
• CPR/First Aid training as required by district procedures.

Responsibilities

• Drive school buses and transport students on assigned routes.
• Observe traffic laws and ensure passenger safety.
• Maintain discipline and communicate with parents as needed.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Complete required records and reports and participate in training.
