Job summary

Alamogordo Public Schools is seeking a School Bus Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for students to and from school and activities. Positions available include full-time and part-time openings, with duties including operating school buses and communicating any issues to the Transportation Director.

Applicants must meet NM requirements including a CDL Class B with S and P endorsements, background checks, and a physical examination.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass NM Motor Vehicle Division driving record check with solid safety record.
• Must pass criminal background check per NM statute.
• Must complete NM school bus driver's physical exam.
• Must possess valid NM CDL Class B for school buses with S and P endorsements or obtain one.
• Pre-employment drug screening per 49 CFR Part 382.
• Bus driver experience desired.
• First Aid/CPR certification desired where required.

School Bus Driver

Job Snapshot: To provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation service by operating various school buses in transporting passengers to and from school as well as related activities accordance with applicable policies, regulations, and statutes. To identify and communicate mechanical/maintenance and/or emergency situations to the Transportation Director/Coordinator. Assure a safe, on-time service and customer satisfaction and maintaining the highest level of ethical behavior with our customers, fellow employees and community we serve.

Education And Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a driving record check through the NM Motor Vehicle Division with a solid safety record
• Successful completion of a criminal background check in accordance with Section 22-10-3, NMSA, 1978 at applicant's expense
• Satisfactory completion of a NM school bus driver's physical examination
• Possess a valid New Mexico commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B for school buses, with S and P endorsements or the ability to obtain one.
• Successful pre-employment screening for drug abuse in accordance with 49 CFR Part 382 at the District's testing lab
• School bus driver experience desired
• Possession of current First Aid/CPR certification where required by State/District/Regulations desired

Position Available: Immediately

Full Time And Part Time Positions Available

Salary:

Nine months (180 days) per contract year and appropriate placement on the Bus Driver Salary Schedule.

Conditions of Employment:

Ability to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 and, upon an offer of employment, complete an Employee's Statement of Health and submit to a functional capacity evaluation at the District's expense to determine ability to perform job-related functions and fitness for duty. Any offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all background, criminal, and reference investigations.
