Job summary

Lakeshore Public Schools in Maryland (Stevensville area) is seeking a School Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school and events. You will perform pre-trip inspections, follow routes, and ensure passenger safety.

Schedule is 20-30 hours per week with 3-5 hour shifts. Background checks and random drug/alcohol testing are required. Lakeshore Transportation offers training to earn CDL and endorsements and competitive pay starting at $18.85/hr.

Responsibilities

Job Summary: Safely and reliably transport and assist students and other school district passengers to and from school, educational or sporting events, community-based programs and other special activities.

Schedule: 20-30 Hours Per Week/ 3 to 5 Hour Shifts

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle as required
  2. Use established routes and designated bus stops
  3. Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required
  4. Instruct passenger riders regarding safety
  5. Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather
  6. Drive with the safety of passengers as first priority
  7. Establish favorable working relationships with other drivers, maintenance personnel, bus attendants, teachers, passengers, principals, and total school or program staff
  8. Bus drivers shall achieve self improvement by attending training sessions, annual in-service and workshops conducted by Lakeshore Public Schools and/or other approved agencies

Specific Abilities:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of rules and regulations promulgated by local, state, and federal agencies
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of state laws and local ordinances
  3. Deal with exuberant behavior characteristics of youthful riders
  4. Administer disciplinary procedures in keeping with district policies
  5. Be alert and exercise good judgment concerning emergencies and day-to-day operations
  6. Shall be able to conduct a bus evacuation drill as required by Transportation Management
  7. Keep accurate records and reports as required, submit in a legible condition, turn in at the specified time
  8. Conduct yourself as a professional Lakeshore Public School Transportation staff member at all times
  9. Operate all vehicle lifts as prescribed in company policy
  10. Secure all equipment that is required for each passenger as prescribed in company policy

Physical Requirements: School Bus Drivers are required to perform a variety of physical tasks that may involve lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, reaching, carrying, and moving objects of varying weights. Drivers must also possess the physical ability to assist students as needed and to safely evacuate students from the school bus in the event of an emergency. This may include quickly moving through the bus, assisting or directing students to emergency exits, providing physical assistance when necessary, and ensuring all students are safely moved to a designated area away from the bus and other potential hazards.
