Responsibilities

Safely operate school buses and other authorized vehicles, including paratransit and commercial driving vehicles, following all traffic laws and safety protocols Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical integrity, and cleanliness Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and address concerns Manage student behavior on the bus using positive behavior management techniques to promote a safe and respectful environment Assist children with boarding and exiting the bus, including those requiring special accommodations or childcare support Maintain accurate logs of routes, mileage, incidents, and safety checks in compliance with company policies Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents by following established procedures and communicating with emergency responders when necessary

Qualifications

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B with S and P endorsements. Class A CDL welcome, but must be able to get S and P endorsements within a month of hire. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving; prior school bus driving experience is a plus Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued for working with diverse communities Knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems and basic maintenance practices Ability to work with children and demonstrate patience, empathy, and excellent childcare skills Familiarity with behavior management techniques to handle student conduct effectively Customer service-oriented mindset with a friendly, professional demeanor Ability to follow detailed routes accurately while maintaining safety standards at all times.
