Job summary

Ector County Independent School District Transportation in Odessa, Texas is seeking a Vehicle Mechanic to perform lubrication and preventive maintenance on district vehicles to ensure safe operation.

The position requires CDL Class B with endorsements or ability to obtain within one year, school bus certification or ability to obtain, and a clean driving record. Pay grade Aux 9; 227 contract days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Class B CDL with P & S endorsements or ability to obtain within one year of hire date.
• State School Bus Driver Certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire date.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to pass DOT physical examination and pre-employment drug test.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on district vehicles, including oil changes, lubrication, tire rotations, and filter replacements.
• Assist in carrying out responsibilities and duties associated with preventive maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
• Safely operate school buses and other district vehicles as needed.
• Manage student behavior while operating a school bus.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
• Report any vehicle defects or needed repairs to the Shop Supervisor promptly.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Supervisor.
