Responsibilities
Schedule and coordinate daily bus routes, field trips, and special transportation requests.
Dispatch school buses and drivers efficiently, ensuring timely service.
Monitor radio communications and provide real-time support to drivers.
Respond to emergencies, delays, or route changes with effective problem-solving.
Maintain accurate records of driver assignments, vehicle inspections, and route modifications.
Communicate with school administrators, parents, and transportation staff regarding route changes, delays, and concerns.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
Assist in training and onboarding new drivers regarding dispatch procedures.
Requirements
2-3 years of experience within school bus/motor coach dispatching
High school diploma or GED
Previous dispatch experience is preferred
Knowledge of surrounding geographic area to ensure effective and efficient routing. Ability to organize and prioritize time to balance conflicting demands related to customer care and dispatching.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers in fast-paced and/or stressful environment (interpersonal & telephone skills).
Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers and other team members
Ability to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
