Job summary

Albemarle County Public Schools Transportation seeks a Transportation Dispatch Specialist to support daily operations in Charlottesville, VA. You will coordinate bus routes, monitor GPS, communicate with drivers and schools, and ensure timely updates via phone, email, and two-way radio.

CDL with school bus endorsement is required within 6 months of hire. Full-time, 12 months, non-exempt, with benefits; starting date immediately.

Qualifications

• CDL required and must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Two years experience as a school bus driver is desirable.
• Experience with pupil transportation or transportation logistics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with fleet vehicles via two-way radio.
• Assists customers in person, via phone and email regarding bus routes and status of operations.
• Sends emails to schools daily for sub bus driver and bus number information.
• Communicates to parents and schools through Bright Arrow messaging when route times change.
• Maintains daily absentee logs and schedules substitute drivers and assistants.
• Monitors operations using GPS and reports data for monthly records.
