Job summary

First Student is seeking a Diesel Technician to join our shop in the Whitman area to maintain and repair school buses for multiple districts. The role includes working Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with ASE certification opportunities and comprehensive health benefits in a union environment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of diesel experience, CDL B with S endorsement (training provided), and own a standard tool set. DOT safety requirements apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience with diesel, automotive, electric, or CNG vehicles.
• CDL license or willingness to obtain CDL B with S endorsement (training provided).
• Own a standard mechanic tool set; pursue ASE certifications.
• Safety-sensitive role; subject to DOT drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Complete work orders and required documentation.
• Support mobile emergency service calls as needed.
• Ensure all repairs meet DOT and company safety standards.
