Job summary

First Student is seeking a Diesel Technician to join our shop serving Geary County. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing school buses to keep students safe and on time. The position offers a Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm day shift with year-round work and opportunities for career advancement across 540 locations.

Qualifications

2+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience or equivalent technical school education.
Valid driver’s license required.
CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment – company paid training provided.
Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided).
Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
Diagnose and perform repairs including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
Complete work orders accurately.
Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
