Job summary

First Student, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Technician to serve Whitman, Abington, Duxbury Academy, Norwell, Weymouth, Holbrook and Rockland. You will perform high-level maintenance and diagnostics to keep school buses safe and road-ready.

The role offers $38–$43 per hour, a comprehensive benefits package, a 401(k) with company match, paid vacations and holidays, and opportunities for ASE certifications and training. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with strong union support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience working with diesel, automotive, electric, or CNG vehicles.
• Own a standard mechanic tool set and possess broad diagnostic capabilities.
• CDL license or willingness to obtain CDL B with S endorsement; training provided.
• Pursue ASE certifications to advance technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Complete work orders and required documentation.
• Support mobile emergency service calls as needed.
• Ensure all repairs meet DOT and company safety standards.
