Job summary

DATTCO, INC in Portland, CT is seeking a full-time Automotive/Diesel Mechanic for our School Bus Fleet Maintenance team. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical and diesel systems to keep routes safe and on time.

A minimum of one year of relevant experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and your own tools are required; CDL and ASE certifications are a plus with paid training and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive, truck, diesel, or bus repair.
• Must have own set of tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on school buses and other fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, diesel, electrical, and drivability issues.
• Inspect, service, and repair brake systems, tires, steering, suspension, drivetrains, and HVAC systems.
• Respond to road calls and assist with mobile repairs to keep routes safe and on time.
• Complete repair orders and paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Communicate repair needs and vehicle status to the shop foreman or supervisor.
• Maintain proper hand tools and shop equipment; follow safety procedures.
