Job summary

Bixby Public Schools District Wide in Oklahoma is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain District vehicles and keep them safe and dependable. You will report to the Lead Mechanic in the Transportation department and perform repairs on heavy‑duty trucks, buses, and related equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with diesel and gasoline engines, and knowledge of air brake systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and heavy‑duty trucks and school buses preferred.
  • Working knowledge of automotive and heavy‑duty diesel/gasoline engines is required; air brake systems knowledge is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs and maintenance on District vehicles within established service schedules.
  • Diagnoses problems, repairs, overhauls, and replaces external engine parts.
  • Inspects, adjusts, repairs and overhauls brakes, differentials and rear assemblies.
  • Repairs and replaces seats and seat covers when needed.
  • Performs required inspection of all District vehicles.
  • Keeps work area clean and free of debris to ensure safety.
  • Ability to drive bus routes when requested.
  • Adheres to District policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrator.
