Job summary

School Board of Highlands County is seeking a Sub Bus Attendant to support transportation services in Sebring, FL. The role focuses on assisting students with mobility and safety on and around buses, under the supervision of the bus operator.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to assist disabled students, operate safety equipment, and follow procedures. Training and a commitment to safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Physical ability to assist disabled students and handle wheelchairs and medical equipment.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical effort including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds from the rear emergency exit to ground.
• Ability to drag up to 125 pounds to emergency exits within 30 seconds.
• Lamiliar with safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist students under the bus operator's direction.
• Help load and unload students at bus stops and grounds.
• Check restraints and wheelchair securement; ensure student safety.
• Enforce safety rules and maintain discipline on the bus.
• Attend in-service trainings and operate a two-way radio for emergencies.
