Job summary

Spring Branch Independent School District in Houston, TX seeks a Substitute Bus Assistant to ride on buses and support the driver in providing a safe, orderly trip for passengers when a regular assistant is absent.

The position requires a high school diploma (preferred), being 18 or older, strong communication, and mature judgment, plus the ability to evacuate passengers in an emergency. You will help manage students, assist with special needs, and participate in safety trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be 18 years and older.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Physically able to evacuate the bus via the emergency door.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student discipline on bus.
• Assist students, including those with special needs.
• Maintain personal conduct and appearance as a role model.
• Aid driver in maintaining order and safety.
• Perform emergency bus evacuations if needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of bus interior.
• Learn assigned routes to assist the substitute driver.
• Attend in-service training and safety meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
