Job summary

Beacon Mobility is seeking a dedicated School Bus Aide in Abington, PA to support student boarding, transit, and disembarkation with a focus on safety. You will ride in the back of the vehicle with students and assist with mobility needs, while ensuring caregivers and school staff stay informed throughout the route.

The role is part-time, Monday to Friday, with shifts from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Aides are required to sit in the back of the vehicle with students.
• Load and unload students as required.
• Be knowledgeable and attentive to the unique needs of the students.
• Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and caregivers.
• Install and secure students in all approved child safety restraints.
• Learn the route to direct a substitute driver if needed.
• Attend all mandatory trainings.
• Address child safety and behavioral concerns while the vehicle is in motion.
• Assist students with special needs, including those in wheelchairs or with mobility challenges, in boarding and exiting the vehicle.
• Follow designated routes and schedules for timely pickups and drop-offs.
• Ensure the safety of all passengers, using safety equipment and securing students when necessary.
• Maintain clear communication with school staff, parents, and supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe vehicle and report any issues for repair or maintenance.
