Interim Healthcare of Scranton, Pennsylvania is hiring School-Based Intervention Specialists for the 2026-2027 school year. The role covers local Lackawanna County districts with a consistent school-calendar schedule and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• MUST have a Highschool Diploma or Equivalent.
• MUST have a minimum of one (1) year working with children or young adults with behavioral, emotional, and/or personal care needs.
• MUST have the ability to remain calm and take initiative during high-stress situations.
• MUST have strong communication and teamwork skills.
• MUST have the ability to commit to one full school year.
• MUST be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students with emotional and behavioral needs.
• Serve as the monitor/support during crisis situations in the classroom.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors and promote student safety.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, aides, and behavioral staff.
• Support the student’s daily routines, including academics, transitions, and behavioral goals.

Job description

Interim Healthcare of Scranton, Pennsylvania is now hiring School-Based Intervention Specialists for the school year 2026-2027.

• Covering local school district needs in Lackawanna County

• Competitive pay: $22 to $24 per hour

• Consistent schedule: Follows the school calendar with weekends, holidays (unpaid), and summers off

• Summer schedule: Evening and Overnight hours commonly offered in various settings such as group homes, personal care homes, and in-home care. Occasional daytime hours may be offered at summer camps, ESY, or on weekends.

• Verbal and Physical De-Escalation Training will be provided

The Intervention Specialist role supports students in Emotional Support Classrooms; assisting with classroom activities and overall classroom workflow, helping maintain safety for students/staff, and supporting the district behavioral team in escalated situations.

Key Responsibilities for the School-Based Intervention Specialist:
