Job summary

Brooklyn Community Services is seeking an Advocate Counselor for Brooklyn High School for Leadership and Community Service. This full-time, in-person role supports students through academic planning, counseling, and post-secondary planning.

The program emphasizes crisis intervention, family outreach, and collaboration with DOE stakeholders to improve student engagement and success. A bachelor’s degree is required; MSW preferred, with a commitment to an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MSW preferred.
  • Experience and demonstrated case management with youth and families.
  • College preparatory experience preferred.
  • Commitment to inclusive environment and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic planning and case management for a caseload of 40+ students.
  • Provide weekly individual and daily group counseling, including Advisory Group sessions.
  • Assist youth in attending school regularly by identifying obstacles and linking to resources.
  • Assist youth with developing actionable post-secondary plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed and family outreach to support communication.
  • Document all work and maintain case records for all students on caseload.
  • Attend school events and conferences per DOE calendar.
  • Assist with College application process.
  • Willingness to perform duties in-person and remotely as assigned.
