Job summary

ReDiscover in Missouri is seeking a School Based Therapist to join its Children’s Community Service Department. You will conduct biopsychosocial assessments and provide case management for children and youth in school, home, or community settings.

The role emphasizes collaborative treatment planning, flexible scheduling to meet client needs, and strong communication with families and partners. A Master’s degree and Missouri licensure are required or preferred, with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a social science field.
• Advanced Missouri licensure such as PLPC and LMSW; LPC, LCSW or LMFT is preferred.
• At least two years of clinical experience with children/adolescents in a mental health setting preferred.
• Valid automobile operator’s license and vehicle with insurance as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide biopsychosocial assessment and case management for children and youth who are ReDiscover clients.
• Assess children and families using required diagnostic tools.
• Develop treatment plans matching needs of child/family/community and goals.
• Follow through with all identified tasks and interventions.

About Children's Community Service Program

Our Children's Services program offers mental health services to school aged youth at home, school, or in their community.Our staff have smaller caseloads, are able to see clients one or more times a week, and have flexible schedules. This helps to ensure that a child's services are not disrupted due to transportation or family scheduling concerns.

What You'll Do

• Provide biopsychosocial assessment and case management services as appropriate for children and youth who are ReDiscover clients.
• Assess children and families accurately and completely using all the diagnostic tools required.
• Develop treatment plans that match the needs of the child/family/community and works toward meeting goals of the treatment plan.
• Follows through with all tasks and interventions that are identified by all parties involved
• Integrates service provision to all parties to address the needs of the client.
• Demonstrates clinically sound judgment and seeks appropriate supervision and/or training for difficult or hard to serve clients
• Maintains clear concise communication that is timely and accurate with all parties to the service provision.
• Meets with clients/families within the timeframes established by the program.

Requirements of the Position

• Availability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of clients enrolled in the program.
• Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a social science field (as defined by the Department of Mental Health).
• At the minimum, candidates with advanced Missouri licensure such as Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) and Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW); candidates with a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is preferred.
• The ability to work with all persons with multiple challenges (mental illness, substance abuse, physical challenges, developmental disabilities, etc.).
• A valid automobile operator’s license, vehicle and state minimum require automobile coverage is required.
• At least two (2) years clinical experience in a direct service provision to children and adolescents in a mental health setting preferred.
• Knowledge of the community resources as well as health and social service systems in the Kansas City metro area and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
• Strongwritten, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as the use of email.
