Job summary

Familylinks, Inc. is seeking a School-Based Mental Health Therapist to bridge mental health with education, delivering group and individual therapy and crisis management within the school system.

Caseloads focus on students from kindergarten through high school, with flexibility to schedule within the school day. Compensation is up to $55k annually with comprehensive benefits and training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in psychology, social work, counseling or related field with 1+ year experience.
  • Licensed or licensure-eligible as LPC/LSW/LCSW/PhD.
  • Knowledge of child development, family systems and brief-solution focused treatment.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Familiarity with DSM-5-TR and HIPAA/privacy laws.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and/or family therapy sessions within a school setting.
  • Manage caseload and coordinate treatment goals with the school team.
  • Conduct assessments within prescribed timeframes and document in EHR.
  • Respond to crises with de-escalation and supportive interventions.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and medical staff on care plans.

Position Summary

The School-Based Mental Health Therapist provides a bridge between mental well-being and education. This role provides group and individual therapy services, crisis management and participates as a member of the individual’s treatment team. The School-Based Mental Health Therapist works with students in the school system to assist in decreasing behavioral and emotional barriers that can impact learning, social development, and positive communication skills. Individuals generally can range from kindergarten to twelfth grade. This role requires flexibility and time management skills to schedule assessments and sessions within the school day schedule.

Compensation: Up to $55k annually.

Assignments
  • Work within an individual-centered team framework to ensure that individuals are connected to services of choice, with emphasis on individualism, strengths and community involvement.
  • Manage caseload of individuals providing individual and/or family therapy sessions.
  • Provide and oversee the provision of accurate, strength-based, and culturally competent assessments of individuals within prescribed timeframes and throughout their service involvement.
  • Provide supportive and follow-up services as needed. This may include intervening directly to identify, prevent or manage crisis events, using crisis intervention techniques including de-escalation, conflict resolution, individual and group strategies.
  • Produce individual driven, strengths-based plan for individual’s treatment goals.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and professionally written documentation of all service components within the electronic health record (EHR) as per licensing regulations, contractual requirements and agency policies.
  • Required to comply with all licensing regulations, contractual requirements, accreditation standards, and agency policies and procedures related to behavior, support, documentation, and management.
  • Other duties as assigned
Education & Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college with a major in psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services field) or other related field with a minimum of one (1) years’ experience working directly with individuals with behavioral and/or mental health diagnoses.
  • Licensure required. (LPC, LSW, LCSW, PhD
  • Competency in child development, family systems and brief-solution focused treatment preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license along with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Working knowledge of the DSM 5-TR.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, privacy laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, computer/laptop, tablet and cell phone required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Present and able to work collaboratively with other team members, supervisor, director and medical personnel, including presenting cases.
  • Management of work processes along and strong documentation skills
Working Conditions
  • Work is typically in a school-setting or office-based with attendance at external meetings, committees and/or conferences required at times.
  • Must be able to work and travel to various schools and/or Familylinks offices as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds.
  • May do pushing, pulling, standing and walking (1-3 hours)
Required Training
  • Maintaining active, unrestricted professional licensure during employment
  • Completing all annual training as assigned
