Job summary

Hanley Foundation is seeking a Substance Use Prevention Educator to develop and implement prevention programs in middle and high schools in Manatee County, with occasional travel to DeSoto, Hardee, and Highlands Counties. The role supports education, outreach, and collaboration with partners to prevent substance use disorders.

The candidate should reside in or near Manatee County, Florida, and hold a relevant degree with additional CPP/CPS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
• Minimum of 1 year working with adolescents, preferably in a school or public health setting.
• Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) preferred or CPS.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to deliver approved substance use prevention curricula to schools and other agencies.
• Participate in community coalition meetings and task force committees.
• Recruit and secure school and community implementation locations.
• Secure training sites for approved programs.
• Market and promote programs to schools in the community.
• Provide education on alcohol and other drugs to parents and to faculty or agency staff.
