Job summary

Lamar Consolidated ISD is seeking a Substance Abuse Specialist to provide targeted counseling and intervention for students at risk of alcohol and drug abuse. The role involves coordinating with teachers, health services, and families to implement prevention efforts within the curriculum.

The candidate should have a Texas LCDC license and experience in school-based counseling, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills to deliver staff training and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Two years of supervised counseling experience preferred.
• Valid Texas LCDC license required.
• Ability to coordinate with school staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Counseling and intervention for students at risk for alcohol and drug abuse.
• Consult with teachers and staff on referrals and prevention.
• Develop and coordinate a drug education program within the curriculum.
• Present drug awareness programs to parents, teachers, and students.
• Compile, maintain and file confidential records and reports.
• Comply with federal/state law, SBOE rules and district policy.
• Attend work as an essential function; other duties as assigned.
