Dutchess BOCES is seeking a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped to assess, diagnose, and provide direct speech, language, and hearing intervention to students with communication disorders. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary school teams and families to develop IEPs that support students’ academic and social success.

Responsibilities include writing measurable IEP goals, delivering therapy, and monitoring progress within a 10-month tenure track, with compensation and health

Competenze

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or Special Education.
• Certification: Active state certification as TSHH or TSSLD.
• Experience: 12 years in a K12 setting with direct IEP development and implementation.

Mansioni

• Administer standardized evaluations to identify speech, language, and hearing disorders and determine eligibility for services.
• Write clear, measurable IEP goals and deliver direct/indirect therapy.
• Provide target interventions for articulation, language, fluency, voice, and pragmatics; use AAC as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to adapt materials for carryover to the curriculum.
• Monitor progress; prepare quarterly reports; present findings at meetings.
• Understand IDEA compliance and educational mandates.
