Job summary

University Prep Schools in Detroit, MI is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to design, organize, and implement therapy for students with speech and language impairments. The role includes conducting assessments, contributing to IEP goals, and coordinating with families and school staff.

The ideal candidate holds a master’s degree, ASHA CCC, and Michigan certification, with preferred experience in a school setting and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited educational program.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
  • State of Michigan speech-language pathology certification.
  • Preferred experience working with children in a school setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostic speech and language assessments to inform IEP goals.
  • Monitor progress and adjust services to support student growth.
  • Provide quarterly progress reports to parents/guardians and update teachers and administrators.
  • Maintain compliance with IDEA and MARSE through proper paperwork.
  • Collaborate with Student Development Department and schools to design holistic plans.
  • Advise and train families on learning supports and community resources.
  • Coordinate with outside providers when needed for services.
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation.
  • Participate in professional development to improve knowledge and skills.
