Job summary

LaCresent-Hokah Public Schools is seeking a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to students with communication disorders within the educational setting.

The role involves collaborating with educators, administrators, and parents, developing individualized intervention plans, participating in IEP meetings, and maintaining thorough documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state licensure or certification in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP or SLP-CF) required.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP preferred.
  • Experience with pediatric populations in school settings is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of assessments, interventions, and therapy techniques for articulation, language, fluency, and pragmatics.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' speech, language, and communication abilities using standardized assessment tools, informal observations, and clinical judgement.
  • Interpret assessment results to diagnose speech and language disorders, including articulation, phonology, language comprehension and expression.
  • Develop individualized intervention plans (IEPs) based on assessment findings, in collaboration with the IEP team and in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide direct therapeutic services to students, including individual and group therapy sessions, targeting speech production, language comprehension and expression, pragmatics, and social communication skills.
  • Implement evidence-based intervention techniques tailored to meet each student's needs and goals.
  • Monitor student progress regularly and adjust intervention plans as necessary to facilitate skill development and academic success.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate speech and language goals into the curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers on strategies for facilitating communication and language development in the classroom.
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, providing input on present levels, goals, progress, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessment data, therapy sessions, progress reports, and required documentation.
  • Communicate with parents regarding progress, goals, and strategies for home support.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in the field through professional development.
