Job summary

Gersh Autism in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to support students aged 5–21 within our K-12 schools, delivering therapy to build strength, balance, and activity levels. The role includes a $3,500 sign-on bonus, a daytime schedule from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM (with one weekly meeting until 4 PM), and collaboration with families and school staff to ensure coordinated care and progress.

Qualifications

• MA/Doctorate in Physical Therapy
• Active license to practice physical therapy in New York
• At least 2 years of experience with individuals on the autism spectrum
• Knowledge of Sensory Processing and CPI training
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Comfort with technology and documentation systems

Responsibilities

• Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student and collaborate with the educational team to implement them
• Apply specialized techniques to help students improve strength, balance, and activity levels
• Maintain a safe and positive therapeutic environment for students
• Collaborate with families to ensure continuity of care and effective communication
• Coordinate with Gersh Autism staff to provide integrated services
• Continuously evaluate and adjust treatment plans based on progress and feedback
• Stay updated on current research in physical therapy for autism spectrum disorders
