Job summary

Easterseals Florida, Inc. is hiring a School-Based Physical Therapist Assistant to support students in Volusia County Schools. The role follows a school-year schedule, with full-time or PRN options, and includes mentorship to help you succeed in a child-centered setting.

Qualifications

  • Requires an Associate's degree from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program.
  • Current Florida PTA license and eligibility for the role.
  • NPI number is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Pediatric experience; mentorship and training available.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and EMR systems.
  • Ability to meet driver qualifications when transporting clients.

Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment plans developed by supervising therapists.
  • Provide quality therapy services to pediatric clients and support developmental goals.
  • Document progress, outcomes, and billing in EMR per program rules.
  • Utilize EMR and Office 365 tools (Teams, Outlook) in daily tasks.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, therapists, and other professionals for coordinated care.
  • Assist with therapy equipment management, recommendations, and training for families.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment.
  • Support other Easterseals programs as needed and protect client privacy.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to ongoing learning.

What You'll Do
  • Implement treatment plans developed by supervising therapists
  • Provide quality therapy services to pediatric clients while supporting their developmental and functional goals

  • Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related systems, including Office 365, Teams, and Outlook
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care
  • Assist with managing therapy equipment, including recommendations, ordering, and education for families and staff
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment
  • Support clients across various Easterseals programs as needed
  • Protect client confidentiality and comply with all privacy and HIPAA requirements
  • Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning
What You Bring
  • Associate's degree from a physical therapist assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
  • Current Florida Physical Therapy assistant (PTA) License
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) preferred
  • Pediatric experience... we will train! Mentorship provided
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Knowledge of therapy-related equipment and safety procedures
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Integrity, tact, and sound judgement
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, lift and carry children weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to meet our approved driver qualifications in order to drive our vehicles, as required, to drive and transport passengers for program-related needs (minimum age of 21 and good driving history)
