Job summary

Easterseals Florida is seeking a School-Based Physical Therapist Assistant to support Volusia County Schools. This full-time role offers school-hour shifts, mentorship, and a school-year schedule with potential ESY opportunities for extra earnings.

You will implement treatment plans, document progress, and collaborate with families and therapists to help children reach developmental goals. Emphasis on safety, HIPAA, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program.
• Current Florida PTA License.
• NPI preferred.
• Pediatric therapy experience; mentorship provided.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and EMR.
• Knowledge of therapy equipment and safety procedures.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
• Integrity, tact and sound judgement.
• Ability to lift and carry children up to 50 pounds.
• Must meet driver qualifications to drive program vehicles.

What You’ll Do:

• Implement treatment plans developed by supervising therapists
• Provide quality therapy services to pediatric clients while supporting their developmental and functional goals
• Document client progress, treatment outcomes, and billing information in accordance with program and regulatory requirements
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related systems, including Office 365, Teams, and Outlook
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care
• Assist with managing therapy equipment, including recommendations, ordering, and education for families and staff
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment
• Support clients across various Easterseals programs as needed
• Protect client confidentiality and comply with all privacy and HIPAA requirements
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning

What You Bring

• Associate’s degree from a physical therapist assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
• Current Florida Physical Therapy assistant (PTA) License
• National Provider Identifier (NPI) preferred
• Pediatric experience... we will train! Mentorship provided
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Knowledge of therapy-related equipment and safety procedures
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Integrity, tact, and sound judgement
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, lift and carry children weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to meet our approved driver qualifications in order to drive our vehicles, as required, to drive and transport passengers for program-related needs (minimum age of 21 and good driving history)
