Strides Therapy & Educational Services in Elkton, MD is seeking a School-Based Physical Therapist to support K-12 students across multiple local schools. The role emphasizes collaborative care with teachers, families, and school staff to promote safe, meaningful movement and participation in everyday activities.

The ideal candidate holds a Maryland PT license, Doctorate or Master’s in Physical Therapy, and experience in pediatric settings.

Qualifications

• Masters or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Valid Maryland PT license.
• Educator Certificate (if applicable).
• Experience with children, preferably in a school or pediatric setting.
• Strong clinical skills in pediatric PT assessment, intervention, and documentation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with school teams and families.
• Compassion and ability to work independently with a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical assessments to identify motor skill deficits.
• Develop IEPs based on assessment findings.
• Provide direct and consultative PT services to improve strength, mobility, and coordination.
• Implement evidence-based therapies tailored to each student.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to integrate PT goals into education plans.
• Participate in IEP meetings with expert input and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate records of assessments, plans, and progress.
• Prepare quarterly progress reports.
• Educate school staff and parents on mobility strategies.
• Adapt therapy activities for school environments.
• Monitor and adjust interventions for effectiveness.
• Advocate for students’ needs and accommodations.
• Stay current with pediatric PT best practices and research.
• Pursue ongoing professional development.
