Job summary

Qualifications

• Licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Working knowledge of occupational therapy treatment procedures and equipment and their appropriate application to a variety of student disabilities.
• Ability to observe, record and report students responses to treatment.
• Ability to plan and supervise the work of others; capable of working with the aged, ill and disabled.
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Carry out occupational therapy procedures with students individually or in groups; train in activities of daily living.
• Prepare and set up treatment apparatus; observe, record and report student reactions to therapy.
• Fabricate and apply splints and assistive devices; supervise Occupational Therapy Aides as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain records of treatment; observe safety precautions during all phases of therapy.
• Inventory, clean, store and maintain supplies and equipment.
