Job summary

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health in Cincinnati seeks an Occupational Therapist for a school-based role with summers off. You will support students in fine motor skills, sensory processing, ADLs/IADLs, and classroom participation, developing and executing IEP/504 goals alongside teachers and families.

This full-time position requires Ohio OT licensure, NBCOT preferred, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Current ODE 5-Year Pupil Services License or ODE Registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Ohio schools.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Ohio Occupational Therapist license through the OTPTAT Board.
  • NBCOT certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, including students with autism and behavioral or communication challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small-group occupational therapy interventions based on student needs.
  • Implement occupational therapy services aligned withIEP and 504 goals.
  • Monitor and document student progress and adjust interventions as appropriate.
  • Support development of fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, functional living, and classroom participation skills.
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches, includingStructured Teaching, behavioral interventions, and CPI de-escalation techniques.
  • Serve as a positive role model for social skills, self-care, independence, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop classroom strategies and curriculum modifications that support student participation.
  • Partner with families to support carryover and generalization of skills across environments.
  • Participate in school events, team meetings, and multidisciplinary planning.
  • Coordinate services with administrators, behavior support staff, and other related service providers.
  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments.
  • Developstrength-based, student-centered treatment plans.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute occupational therapy expertise to educational planning.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records.
  • Complete required therapy documentation, service logs, and progress reports.
  • Maintain organized therapy spaces and ensure necessary resources are available.
  • Manage scheduling and coordinate services across the school environment.
  • Maintain compliance with educational, state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Stay current with evidence-based occupational therapy practices and special education requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify opportunities to improve student outcomes and service delivery.
  • Support sensory rooms and mock apartment spaces designed to promote functional and independent living skills.
  • Assist with transition planning and task analysis.
  • Collaborate with behavior support staff to address student needs.
  • Participate in program initiatives that promote student independence, engagement, and success.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
